SAMANTHA SIMPSON MEETS ADVERSITY HEAD ON AT ROUND 4 IN ROCK SPRINGS!
Our newest team rider Samantha Simpson made her team Utah Off Road MX debut. She entered the 250 Beginner and Women's 15+ classes. First Moto of the day for Sammi was 250 Beginner. While sitting on the line she noticed a puddle of oil under her bike. Sure enough it was from hers! Back to the pits to get it fixed, discovered a stretched oil filter cover bolt was the culprit.
Her next Moto was Women's 15+ and she was ready. Sammi had a decent start off the gate but a muddy corner took her down early in the Moto. She after getting her bike started she was back in it and finished her laps. Next was Moto 2 of the 250 Beginner class. Another good start off the line put her in mid pack, a rider went down in the second corner and was run over by another in the class. Right behind the fall was team rider Xander Waggoner, he made a quick right jog around the downed riders and Sammi was right behind him. Taking a good line out of the fray she was on her way to a good moto and completed her laps to a checkered flag. In her final Moto of the day, Moto 2 of Women 15+ she had engine bog off the start. The motor quickly recovered but Sammi noticed a sticky throttle going into turn number one. Her front tire slide out as she grabbed the break and fell to the left. Once she was on the ground she new something was wrong and realized she could not stand. Her bike had fallen right on her lower leg and snapped both bones above her ankle.
Sammi said "other than that, the weekend was fun and exciting! I can't wait to get back on the bike!" We look forward to a speedy and full recovery for Samantha.
